INDOAGRIBIZ–In line with the WHO policy to reduce the overuse of antibiotics in livestock and fisheries, Article 22 paragraph 4 letter c of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 Year 2009 on Livestock and Animal Health has been revised and supplemented by Law No. 41 of 2014, use of feeds mixed with certain hormones and / or antibiotics of feed additives.

Although the law already exists, but until this year antibiotic feed additives have not been fully eliminated. This is because if directly removed just like that, then the poultry industry can experience a crisis. Among them are high swelling and depletion feed conversion due to Necrosis Enteritis.

But lately sticking to the news, the government in this case the Ministry of Agriculture will impose a ban on the use of Antibiotics Growth Promoter (AGP) in early 2018. The main reason for the AGP ban is because of the high incidence of bacterial resistance to many types of antibiotics, even antibiotics prepared to treat multi-resistant bacteria cases. This rule has also been applied in some countries. For example the United States and Canada prohibit the use of important antibiotic classes in humans as AGP.

AGP Alternative

Actually there have been many inventions and drug manufacturers that offer this AGP substitute, ranging from enzymes, essential oils, organic acids, probiotics, prebiotics, etc. that are proven to eliminate harmful bacteria in the digestive tract.

However, its use without improving feed quality in feedmill or farm management improvements is highly unlikely to be possible in order to achieve maximum performance. Improvements in the feedmill such as improved feed digestibility or ammonia management at the farm will surely help substitute the AGP in controlling the flora of the digestive tract.

In this case, PT Tirta Buana Kemindo (TBK) supports the government’s policy to change the use of AGP with Non AGP. For that PT TBK held an enzyme technical seminar on enzyme as an alternative to AGP and improving performane of poultry and pigs. The technical seminar was held (21/11) at Hotel Santika Slipi, prsented by Dr. Santosh Ingale, Global Business Head, Advanced Enzymes Technology Ltd., India who is PhD in Animal Nutrition and feed enzyme expert.

We are trying to support the government’s policy regarding the prohibition of the use of antibiotics as a growth promoter in the feed that has been echoed since 2014, and is planned to be implemented in 2018. “We always support government policy, such as banning the use of AGP, for that there must be a product that can replace the role of AGP is more secure and good results in the stable,” said Ivonne, CEO of PT Tirta Buana Kemindo.

In this case PT TBK brings “DigeGrain Delta Plus” a multienzyme formulation Asia’s leading enzyme producer Advanced Enzymes Technology Ltd., India. “DigeGrain uses cutting-edge technology and is produced by the best enzyme manufacturers in India. DigeGrain Delta Plus heath promoting and as AGP replacer vales are already proven in many countries globally

Also,  PT TBK conducted trials on Delta Plus in broilers and pigs in Indonesia and got very impressive results, “explained Ivonne. She informed that DigeGrain enzyme product has been tested in Karawang, where we find feed broilers fed feed mixed with DigeGrain Delta Plus grow faster, and the weight is greater with lower FCR. Also, there was reduction of wet littre issue on trial farm. “This enzyme can be used as partial or complete repacement for  AGP. In our broiler experiments with this enzyme, chicken growth was increased by 13- 30 % as compared to control group without enzyme” Ivonne said.

From experiments conducted by PT TBK shows, broiler offered feed with DigeGrain Delta Plus for 35 days can reach 2.8 to 3 kg body weight, whereas birds weight without enzymes were  only 2.2 – 2.3 kg at the same time. “Chicken meat becomes more dense and contains, FCR efficiency (Feed Convertion Rate) can also be saved about 0.1. In terms of cost relatively cheap price only 7 dollars per kg. It is relatively cheap, although it is still slightly above AGP, but we can reduce the cost of purchasing vitamins and minerals from the use of this enzyme,” Ivonne said. [redaksi]
